Thank You From the Bottom of My Heart

This holiday season has been particularly busy and hectic for me (I’m sure you can relate especially if you’re a parent too!).  Amid the hustle and bustle, I can’t help but count my blessings.

I want to take this time to say a big thank you to all who have shown me undying love and support for myself and my baby aka U & I Event Design 🙂

It’s quite challenging building a business while handling family, work and other obligations but I’m very grateful for where I am in the journey and I look forward to an even more exciting adventure for U & I in 2014.

Thanks to you my clients for trusting me with the important milestones of your lives. May you continue to have many more reasons to celebrate.

On behalf of my family and team, we wish you peace, love, joy and God’s abundant blessings!

With Love,

Ihino

‘Sweet’ Baby: a baby shower for someone who loves to bake

When it was time to throw a baby shower for Ihino (our founder), we knew we wanted to do something befitting a person who helps others create memorable events. Even though she insisted – and even pleaded at some point lol – that we shouldn’t bother ourselves with  throwing a shower for her third child, we wanted to celebrate her and do something sweet and simple; something that reflected her.

We ended up inviting a few of her friends and family to Horatio’s Restaurant – at the San Leandro Marina –  about a week and a half before the event. Yes it was pretty last minute (Baby Monica arrived nine days later!), we were in the middle of wedding planning at the time and quite frankly, some of us already gave up on throwing her a shower. So in a short time frame, we came up with a Sweet Baby theme that incorporated her love for baking and vintage styles.

Since Ihino wanted to be surprised and chose not to find out the sex of her baby, we picked a gender neutral color palette of yellow, teal, green and brown which was perfect for the vintage feel we were going for.  In planning this shower, we had fun sampling (okay confession time: eating) baby food . . . lol! (you’ll see why shortly). Some of our favorites were strawberry-banana, pears and applesauce . . . we stuck with the fruits; didn’t care for the veggies and other stuff.

In the end, we were happy with the way everything turned out and the celebrant loved every minute of it. The folks at Horatio’s were very accommodating as well; they let us use our own table cloths and pretty much  allowed us set things up exactly the way we wanted.

We hope the following photos inspire you to celebrate your own milestones exactly the way you want to!

How to Pull Off a Mismatched Bridesmaids Look

We absolutely love the idea that many brides are now choosing alternate options for their bridal party ensemble rather than the typical uniform look. We really hope this is a trend that is here to stay. Why? Well, first of all, who really has a group of friends that are of the same shape, size or even complexion? Many brides stress over finding a style that flatters all of their bridesmaids and we’ve all seen one too many bridal parties where some of the girls look great in their attire while the rest don’t. . . not fair right?

All your bridesmaids should feel wonderful and confident on your special day. It makes for a boost in morale and a happier atmosphere for all. When everyone feels great, it translates into a more fun wedding and of course better pictures!

Are you interested in a mismatched look for your girls but are afraid of not pulling it off well? Know that it’s really hard to mess things up if you can remember one rule: have at least one constant that ties the look together. The best way to illustrate this is to show you mismatched looks that work and why. Ready?

This coral David’s Bridal mismatched bridesmaids look is an easy one to pull off: same color different styles.
